In August 2017 the Danish Refugee Council Tanzania conducted one month of qualitative field research in Nduta and Mtendeli refugee camps as well as the surrounding refugee hosting areas in western Tanzania.

The analysis combines existing studies and reports collected in a literature review with empirical qualitative research, including semi-structured interviews with key informants, focus group discussions and life histories with women and men of different ages from the refugee camps and the host communities together with Community and Government authorities.
